Alkebu Film Productions

Guided by the Alkebulan proverb that the world is made of stories and human beings enact the stories we believe, Alkebu Film Productions inspires social, political, ecological, and spiritual justice through multimedia storytelling. In the face of escalating systemic violence and oppression, we understand that our lives quite literally depend on which stories we tell. As initiates of Black and indigenous tradition, we evoke ancient narrative and aesthetic practices to revive and generate stories to sustain the future.

To support life-sustaining storytelling, we offer production services, educational opportunities, and transformational events.

For anyone seeking mentorship, support, or inspiration for a life-sustaining story, we offer production services including:
• Cinematography
• Directing
• Editing
• Consulting—for preproduction, production, postproduction, and impact producing

For people who want to learn more about enacting justice through storytelling, we offer educational opportunities for:
• Film production
• Photography and cinematography
• Third Cinema theory
• Decomposing the Colonial Gaze for visual artists
• Afrofuturism: Second Aesthetic
• Recoding Aesthetics

For people yearning to (re)connect with the transformational power of story, we curate custom events including
• Community film screenings and discussions
• Collaborative installations and exhibitions
• Live storytelling events (often around a fire)
• Ritual and healing story sessions
